Christmas Hills Fire Brigade

The Black Saturday Folios

The Black Saturday 2009 fires burned a very large area north of Christmas Hills and had an impact on part of the Brigade area.

Many members worked on the fireline on the edge of the Kinglake National Park for weeks after these fires, and saw little of the media coverage at the time.

Friends of the Brigade have put together a media archive including a wide range of newspaper coverage for the days before and many months after the fires.

The Black Saturday fires have changed fire management in Victoria and the media archive will form a lasting record of the event.

The archive was officially launched by Warwick Leeson at Chills Lounge in October 2009.
